Present: Selectmen Ward, Angley, Hewins, and Chairman Casey. Absent Selectman O’Donnell.
The Chairman convened the meeting at 6:08 P.M.
Motion by Ward that the Board of Selectmen support the Carver Fire Department’s pursuit of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security American Recovery and Re-investment Act “ARRA” Assistance to the Fire Fighters Grant for the fire station construction. Motion seconded by Angley. Opened for discussion. Ward stated the importance of this project and requested the Board have a presentation at the first Selectmen’s meeting in August. Hewins motioned for an amendment that if awarded the Federal Grant the Board of Selectmen will bring the question of funding the local share to the voters of Carver. Buz Artiano gave a brief update on the committee’s work that included the financial plan for the new construction. Craig Weston stressed the many hours of work
that went into writing the grant application. He also stress the extreme competitive nature of the grant application. Discussion commenced on the motion with the amendment. Vote 4-0 to support the application and to bring question of funding the local share to the voters of Carver.
Motion by Angley, second by Ward, to adjourn at 6:23 P.M.
